Varshini Batti, is a Master of Science student in Health Informatics at the Yale School of Public Health. Before graduate school, Varshini completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience. Varshini comes from a pre-medical background, and is passionate about bridging the gap between research and practical solutions that can be delivered effectively to patients.Varshini has experience working on both medical and technological aspects of human healthcare. Early in her academic career, Varshini gained hands-on experience in various research roles, including working as a Research Assistant in the Ross Behavioral Lab, where she used technological tools to analyze survey data from staff at the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. She also was a research assistant at the Extracorporeal Life Support (ECLS) Lab at the University of Michigan, and worked with animal subjects to investigate possible cures to COVID-19 using nitric oxide. These experiences fueled her passion for leveraging technology to improve healthcare outcomes. Varshini has led several significant projects through her coursework in Yale, including the development of a digital health app prototype for psoriasis management and the application of machine learning models for stroke risk prediction and mental health diagnosis from social media data. Her work consistently reflects a commitment to integrating user-centered design principles with advanced analytical techniques to address real-world healthcare challenges. Varshini's dedication to community service is evident through her leadership roles, such as serving as the Director of Outreach for Project RISHI as an undergraduate, where she spearheaded initiatives to develop and sustain sanitation efforts for rural villages in India. Her interdisciplinary approach combines health informatics, research, and community engagement, making her a valuable contributor to the research mission at CHIL. As she continues her academic journey, Varshini looks forward to advancing her research agenda by designing innovative technologies that improve healthcare delivery and patient outcomes, particularly in underserved communities.
Fun Fact
I love to sing and dance! I am a trained Hindustani classical music singer and I perform with the Indian classical music group Yale Dhvani throughout the year! I also love escape rooms since I love putting pieces together to solve a mystery!
